Vail Bloom made her first appearance on Vanderpump Rules during Season 3 and stayed for a relatively short time. Known for playing Heather Stevens on The Young and the Restless, Vail accompanied The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills‘ Eileen Davidson as a soap opera star who transitioned to reality TV.
Vail made an impression during her brief stint on the show, notably opening up about her past struggles with substance abuse. Since leaving Vanderpump Rules, Vail has returned to acting and started a family.

Vail Bloom Did Not Hold Back About Her Past When She Was On Vanderpump Rules
Vail Bloom first appeared on Season 3 of Vanderpump Rules when she interviewed for a short-term position at SUR restaurant. After being told by Lisa Vanderpump that alcohol was off-limits for employees, Vail offered this:
“I was on

for just under three years and I was starting to get into this whole like … what seemed like the Hollywood lifestyle, and I was starting to get into a little bit of trouble with drugs. Obviously, I’m doing well now. I meditate twice a day. I have myself together, but I certainly have a history. It just made the lows, really low. I always have to be kind of on guard and not surround myself with people that [would take me down the wrong path] … I’m strong, but I don’t want to be subjecting myself to it all the time.”
The idea was presumably that Vail wanted to start at SUR—and in the world of reality TV— with nothing but honesty. She said later,
“Everyone makes mistakes, it’s human [nature]. But I’m really happy to be past it. That’s just not how I want to go through life.”
Through the rest of Season 3, in late 2014 and early 2015, Vail was front-and-center interacting with castmates like Jax Taylor, Peter Madrigal, and Scheana Shay. When Season 3 ended, however, so did Vail’s time on Vanderpump Rules.

Vail Bloom Became A Mom For The First Time In 2018
Vail Bloom’s success on Vanderpump Rules was clear to Lisa Vanderpump from the outset, but her long-time connection to the show was not. Lisa told SUR manager Peter Madrigal after meeting Vail,
“She’s too good, she’s never going to last… She’s too cute, she’s too pretty, she’s too smart. Perfect.”
After leaving Vanderpump Rules, Vail remained in the spotlight. In addition to dating actor Chris Pine in mid-2015, Vail appeared in several movies. Her roles as Janet Lyons in Too Late (2015) with John Hawkes and as Rachel in Surviving the Wild (2018) with John Voight accompanied her appearances in 2018’s The Ghost Beyond and Orphan Horse.

In 2018, Vail achieved another milestone, albeit in her personal life. Vail gave birth to her daughter, Charlie Olivia Grace. Revelations that Vail was pregnant came on the heels of legal action taken against her former boyfriend, Hayes Stuppy, in 2017, although it wasn’t clear if Stuppy was the baby’s father. In 2020, Vail announced that her son, Jack Rene Rose, had come into the world on January 25.
It remains unclear who the father of the second child is as well. In March 2024, Vail made public her relationship with Maxwell Shepherd.

Vail Bloom Revived Her Emmy-Nominated Character On The Young and the Restless In 2023
Vail Bloom made a triumphant return to The Young and the Restless in 2023, reviving the role of Heather Stevens. Vail first appeared as Heather on the soap opera in 2007 and stayed with the show until 2010. In 2008, Vail received a Daytime Emmy nomination for playing Heather.
Vail’s return to The Young and the Restless coincided with the 50th anniversary of the beloved daytime soap opera. Vail said that the opportunity to play Heather again “was a million percent a blessing.” She continued,
“It was fun for the show, and I’m so happy that I was received well and that fans were excited to see me again. But personally, it was a blessing because it felt like home and family. The first time I played Heather, I was young and I just moved to LA and you’re not a fully grown, operating adult when you’re just starting out. So, it was so beautiful to have the experience of what I had in my early 20s and then be able to see it through the lens of someone who’s older and wiser and 10 years deeper into the industry. I was just so thankful for it. I felt so lucky.”
Vail didn’t have much notice before finding out exactly how Heather’s fate would unfold, however. Heather was killed off, although the death of a character on a soap opera is never without the possibility of coming back to life, as the actress noted in October 2024:
“I don’t think it’s the last time you’ll see Heather… You really never know in the wonderful, wild world of soaps.”
