At the moment, Jimmy Kimmel is currently taking time off. However, at one point, Jimmy Kimmel almost agreed to permanent leave from Jimmy Kimmel Live following a request made by ABC. Jimmy was told to tone down on his Trump humor, but refused. His risky decision didn’t result in any changes, and in addition, the Donald Trump bashing hasn’t subsided. In fact, it continued during his interview alongside Kamala Harris two months ago.
Surprisingly, Trump also appeared on the program years ago prior to getting elected as President. Watching these two interviews one after the other, it becomes clear that it is the opposite type of structure. Let’s recap both, and the noticeable differences.

Kamala Harris Addressed Donald Trump And The Future Elections During Her Jimmy Kimmel Live Interview
Just prior to entering the Presidential race, Kamala Harris appeared on Jimmy Kimmel Live two months ago. The interview was a stacked on, as Harris discussed several topics, including Trump’s felony, and how he was guilty on 34 counts. Harris did not pull back from going after Trump. She told Kimmel, “A jury of 12 people, peers, over the course of six weeks, deliberated on the evidence and facts and unanimously determined guilt on 34 felony counts. There was a defense attorney who actively participated in selecting that jury, who actively made decisions about witnesses to call, witnesses to cross examine. And the jury made their decision and you know, I think that the reality is, cheaters don’t like getting caught and being held accountable.”

Harris added, “The reality is, let’s just fast forward again to November. I think the American people want to know that there is a president who is accountable to the people.”
The interview got a lot of interest, generating over 2.2 million views. The comments section was also stacked, with more than 8K users sharing their thoughts. The most liked comments were all surrounded around how well-spoken Harris was during the interview.
“The way she articulates her ideas and carries herself, without using personal attacks or slander towards her rivals, is so refreshing to listen to.” Another fan added, “From Canada, so refreshing to listen to an intelligent, thoughtful, informed US politician who has a sense of humor and who happens to be female.”
As for Trump’s interview with Jimmy Kimmel, it was a little more all over the place compared to Kamala Harris’ time on the show. Trump talked about debating Bernie Sanders, while discussing his ban on illegal immigrants. Trump also boasted about his medical history of all things, and what that could mean to the Presidency.
Jon Lovitz banned himself from Jimmy Kimmel Live given the constant attention on Donald Trump and politics.
Trump tells Kimmel, “I said, doc, I want to tell you, I will be the healthiest president ever. And he said, hmmm. I think I agree. And I think he probably took my words and put them down.”
Comments on this particular interview were a mixed bag. For the most part, fans can’t believe that Kimmel and Trump agreed to an interview together in the first place, especially given how everything has turned out.
“The way he bashes him now lmao…didn’t think this existed.” Another fan added, “Soooo… this is like watching an alternate reality’s Jimmy Kimmel. Something we will NEVER see again.”

Jimmy Kimmel Refused To Tone Down His Donald Trump Humor
Jimmy Kimmel, Stephen Colbert, and Seth Meyers continue their Donald Trump slander. Jimmy Fallon isn’t onboard with Trump either, but he puts a lessened focus on politics compared to his peers. Some might argue that Kimmel’s hatred for Trump runs a little deeper. In fact, Kimmel was willing to step down when he was asked by ABC to lighten up on the Donald Trump content.
Kimmel revealed, “I just said, ‘If that’s what you want to do, I understand and I don’t begrudge you for it, but I’m not going to do that. So if you want somebody else to host the show, then that’s fine. That’s OK with me. I’m just not going to do it like that’ … I have lost half of my fans — maybe more than that.”

Kimmel understood the request, but wasn’t willing to accept. “There was at one time, maybe, I don’t know, right around the beginning of this whole Trump thing where … that was kind of hinted at, but I just said, ‘Listen, I get it. I don’t disagree. I mean, you’re right.”
With the elections heating up, we can expect more from the Live host and in regard to Trump and the election. However, it should be noted that Kimmel is currently being replaced by a slew of guest hosts. Kimmel is shooting Who Wants to be a Millionaire, while he also revealed that the likely of re-signing a deal on late night TV remains highly unlikely. These might be the final days of Kimmel on late night TV.
