Since MobLand premiered in March 2025, it has quickly become one of the most talked-about new TV shows since The Pitt took the world by storm. A truly captivating British crime drama, MobLand features an incredibly impressive cast that includes Tom Hardy, Pierce Brosnan, Helen Mirren, and Toby Jones among others. In response, Tom hinted that the show was likely to focus more on the show’s wider world. Tom did that by talking to The Hollywood Reporter about the fact that organized crime takes place on an international level.
“There are international elements to organized crime, which are touched on in Season 1 and the control of drugs and ammunition and weapons and people and all kinds of things that go through Europe and from Africa through to South America, Pakistan and the variable commodities that move around Europe.”
While that comment may seem somewhat generic, fans of MobLand’s first season will likely have a very good idea of what Tom was talking about.

During the first season of MobLand, Guy Ritchie executive produced the show, and he directed the pilot and one other episode. During Tom’s April 2025 The Hollywood Reporter interview, Tom spoke about working with Guy again after they previously collaborated on the movie RocknRolla many years earlier. “I didn’t realize it was 17 years. That’s quite a long time, isn’t it? Well, I just called him on the phone and it didn’t feel like that much time had passed and he was already interwoven into the project. So we had a catch-up and pretty shortly afterward, we were on set working. So it was pretty straightforward.”
Tom talked about each European country having organized crime leaders that the Harrigans and their associates could battle in the future of MobLand.
“There are families that are involved in each European country that are vying for power to have that status to be able to move these kind of commodities through and who polices that and how that fits into a world stage.”
After the first season of MobLand, it is tantalizing to consider how great the show could be if it becomes greater in scope.
