Breaking: Renowned Scholar, Politician Prof. Jibril Aminu Passes Away at 85

Professor Jibril Muhammad Aminu, a distinguished cardiologist and prominent Nigerian statesman, has died at the age of 85 after a prolonged illness.

Born in August 1939 (formerly known as Aminu Song), the late professor had an illustrious career in both medicine and politics. He served as vice chancellor University of Maiduguri 1980 – 1995, Nigeria’s Ambassador to the United States from 1999 to 2003 and later represented Adamawa Central Senatorial District in the National Assembly from 2003 to 2011 under the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

Prof. Aminu is survived by his two wives, Ladi Muhammed and Fatima Bukar Mulima and with nine children.

He will be remembered for the significant contributions in health, education and politics throughout his lifetime.
