The Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University Teaching Hospital (ATBUTH), Bauchi, has distanced itself from a fraudulent employment scheme falsely linked to the institution.
In a press release on Monday, Usman Koli, Head of Public Relations and Protocol at ATBUTH, expressed alarm over the situation.
He stated, “The management is deeply troubled by reports of fraudulent activities carried out by criminals inside and outside the hospital. These individuals are illegally collecting money from temporary staff, falsely claiming to secure permanent positions for them.”
“Additionally, they are deceiving members of the public by charging fees for non-existent permanent job placements at the hospital,” Koli added.
He clarified that ATBUTH is not involved in such illegal practices and warned that no one is authorized to collect money for employment on behalf of the hospital.
“Anyone, staff or outsider caught engaging in this scam will be exposed and prosecuted. The management considers this behavior disgraceful, unethical, and a serious crime,” he emphasized.
Koli further stated that the hospital will take strict action against offenders, including disciplinary measures or legal prosecution.
The statement urged the public and temporary staff to remain cautious, avoid unofficial transactions, and report any suspicious job offers or payment requests.
