Joe Exotic’s husband is breaking his silence following his recent deportation.
The Tiger King personality, real name Joseph Maldonado-Passage, confirmed earlier this month that his partner, Jorge Flores Maldonado, was deported to Mexico on May 19.
Now, Jorge is opening up about his situation in Tamaulipas, a northeastern Mexican state.
“There is a lot of organized crime here and there is no security,” Jorge told The New York Post. “I am a very famous person and right now I run the risk of being kidnapped.”
He continued, “The cartels are very active here — I cannot even go out on the street. They think I have money because of my husband.”
The couple tied the knot behind bars only a few weeks ago at a federal lockup in Texas. Exotic, 63, is currently in the middle of a 21-year bid for his infamous plot to kill longtime rival Carole Baskin.
Jorge was busted for allegedly driving a vehicle carrying six undocumented migrants across the border, a claim backed by federal court records.
After his husband’s deportation, Joe made a public plea to former President Donald Trump and his allies to intervene.
He shared a photo of himself and Maldonado on Instagram with the caption: “They have officially taken him to an ICE detention center for his hearing to either stay in America or go back to Mexico.”
