The new series Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage wouldn’t be possible without The Big Bang Theory. That extremely successful sitcom lasted an impressive 12 seasons. The first spin-off, Young Sheldon, followed the childhood of Sheldon Cooper, who was played by Jim Parsons in the original series. Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage is the second spin-off in this universe. It follows Sheldon’s brother Georgie, a character introduced in Young Sheldon.
The show’s title suggests that this particular marriage between Georgie and Mandy might not be “till death do us part.” Lots of fans have been wondering how, if, and when their marriage will end. When a new character named Scott was introduced in the two-part season finale, those questions were brought up yet again. Now, it seems the season finale isn’t the last audiences will see of Scott.
The Character Of Scott Will Appear In More Episodes Than Just The Two-Part Season Finale
When the news that the season finale of Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage would be a two-part episode, many fans were excited. However, the news of a guest character from Mandy’s past caused several fans to ask questions. TV Line had announced that Christopher Gorham would make a guest appearance in the finale. It has now been revealed that this guest appearance will grow into something bigger.
TV Line first reported that Christopher would play Scott, Mandy’s new boss at the television station who had actually dated her in the past. The synopses for both parts of the season finale revealed that Mandy kept this information from Georgie. The fact that she didn’t tell her husband that her new boss was someone she used to date left fans wondering if this could spell trouble for the marriage.
While keeping a secret can be a major issue in a relationship, it wouldn’t be the first time Georgie and Mandy argued over honesty. The aspect of this particular storyline that makes it different from past troubles is the fact that Scott will be a consistent presence in their lives. TV Line teased fans with the news that the character of Scott will appear in more than just the finale of Season 1. This heavily hints at Christopher getting an even bigger role in season two.
TV Line reported in one of their latest articles that Christopher would be in Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage as Scott “beyond” the two-part season finale. It has not yet been revealed just how big his role will be in Season 2. Many are wondering if he will just appear as a way to end the storyline or if he will become a recurring character. At this point, all fans can do is speculate and wait as the second season approaches.
Christopher seemed to quickly assimilate with the cast, so it isn’t surprising that he would be back for more episodes. Christopher posted a photo on Instagram after the first season wrapped in April. In the photo, he is posing with the cast and crew where he wrote in his caption that the team had created a “family” that’s “welcoming, warm-hearted, and hilarious.” While it’s great that he fits in with the group, fans aren’t going to want someone coming in between Georgie and Mandy.
It’s difficult for viewers to get behind a character that could spell the end of this marriage. While many viewers want to be optimistic about Georgie and Mandy’s future, the title of the show hints that their marriage might not be forever. Of course, this presents a dilemma for fans, since Emily Osment and Montana Jordan have great chemistry as actors. Fans of the show want to see them work things out, as opposed to being at odds with each other.

Christopher Gorham Has Guest-Starred As An Unlikable Villain In A Television Series Before
Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage isn’t the first series Christopher has guest starred on. He also made an appearance on the show Accused. Christopher played the role of Jason Knight in the episode. Jason framed his wife for a crime when she sought a divorce. During an interview with TVBrittanyF, he discussed his role and how he got involved with the series.
“I liked the team behind the show,” Christopher said when asked what attracted him to playing a role so different from himself. “The director, Milan Cheylov, is an old friend of mine from the Odyssey 5 and Jake 2.0 days. Honestly, the stuff that I had to do in this episode is not easy. There’s one particularly upsetting scene. And so I felt like I was going to be in good hands, and it was going to be a safe environment with people that wanted it to be really good and not just salacious. So that’s why I was intrigued by it.”
Of course, any good actor has to be skilled at embodying characters that don’t resemble them in any way. These characters are also not very likable to audiences either. Despite this fact, Christopher still said that there is a way for actors to keep viewers interested in watching the character’s story play out anyway.
“The acting job is the same no matter what type of character you’re playing,” he explained. “It’s getting under the hood and finding the empathy for that person—understanding why they do what they do, and then being able to portray it in an honest way. For [Jason in Accused], the key really was in the upsetting scene, when he comes in drunk and he talks. The thing that he’s trying to seduce her with is that he just made another million dollars. That’s where his power is.”
Christopher added, “His power is all wrapped up in money. And so all of the decisions in his life have come from trying to amass as much money and therefore power as he can. Because for whatever reason, that’s what he’s learned is the way to success and happiness. And unfortunately, he’s being taught in this episode that it’s not true. That it certainly doesn’t bring you happiness, nor love.”
One scene seems to reveal that the character of Jason wasn’t always a villain. Christopher, however, seems to know the character better and disagrees with that statement. “You can see where, as a young guy, he’s exciting, he’s handsome, he’s ambitious, he’s charismatic,” Christopher said. “Even then he was using his power to manipulate her—and she admits [that] it worked. [She] liked him. It was attractive. But ten years into that marriage, that wears off because he doesn’t have anything else to offer. All he spends his energy on is becoming wealthy and powerful. And he wants his beautiful wife in place, and he wants his perfect child in place because it helps him at work. It makes him look good.”

However, not only did this turn out to not be true, but Lance remained on the series until the very end. He also surprised viewers by reprising his role as Georgie’s dad in an episode of Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage.
A press conference was held on the set of Georgie & Mandy where news of Lance’s guest appearance was confirmed by the show’s producers. Viewers would hear confirmation that Lance’s character would be visiting Georgie in a dream sequence. The episode was inspired by an experience series creator and executive producer Chuck Lorre went through. After Chuck’s father passed, he was visited by his father in a dream.
Steve Holland, the executive producer of Georgie & Mandy, spoke to TV Insider about Lance returning to reprise his character. Regarding why the future of Lance’s character was wide open, Steve had an explanation. “On Young Sheldon, the future for Sheldon [Iain Armitage] was written,” he said. “Here, the future is mostly unwritten except for Georgie [Montana Jordan] a little bit. But everyone else’s is unwritten.”
Steve continued, “We also have a great way to keep telling the story of those characters from Young Sheldon. It’s a great way to keep bringing back Annie Potts [Connie AKA Meemaw] and Zoe Perry [Mary] and see how characters change, especially Mary from being the Mary of Young Sheldon into the Mary [Laurie Metcalf] we see on Big Bang.”
Scott’s introduction has some questioning what this will mean for Georgie and Mandy’s marriage, but Steve gave a pretty ambiguous take on their future. TV Insider suggested to him that while the couple might have different marriages in the future, that doesn’t necessarily mean they won’t get back together in the end. “It does not mean that,” Steve responded coyly. “Absolutely. You’re right.”
