Hilda Dokubo Criticizes Mass Defections To APC, Reaffirms Loyalty To Labour Party

  • Hilda Dokubo has commented on the recent political defections in Nigeria.
  • Several opposition lawmakers have switched to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

Veteran Nigerian actress Hilda Dokubo has shared her opinion on the wave of defections currently happening in the country’s political scene.

As reported by GistLover, several opposition lawmakers have recently joined the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC). This shift comes amid internal issues plaguing some of Nigeria’s major opposition parties, including the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), the Labour Party (LP), and the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP).

Among those who have defected are six members of the House of Representatives from Delta State and two from Enugu. In a major political shift, former Delta State Governor and PDP’s 2023 vice presidential candidate, Ifeanyi Okowa, also left the PDP to join the APC.

When asked for her thoughts, Nollywood icon and current Rivers State chairman of the Labour Party, Hilda Dokubo, pointed to a lack of guiding principles among the defectors.

“They don’t have the ideology, so that’s what they are doing,” she said.

Speaking further, Dokubo made it clear she remains committed to the Labour Party and is not swayed by the trend of political realignment.

“I am not leaving the Labour Party because I joined it based on ideology,” she stated.
