Chris Brown’s remand follows an alleged attack on music producer Abraham “Abe” Diaw at the Tape nightclub in Mayfair, central London, in February 2023.
Prosecutors say that surveillance footage shows Brown striking Diaw multiple times with a bottle and continuing to assault him after he fell to the floor, causing injuries described as serious and potentially permanent. The victim later filed a civil claim seeking £12 million in damages for both physical harm and emotional distress.
Appearing briefly at Manchester Magistrates’ Court, Brown confirmed his identity before Judge Joanne Hirst, who deemed the allegations “too serious” to justify bail. Brown’s “Breezy Bowl XX” world tour was scheduled to kick off in Europe on June 8 in Amsterdam, followed by performances in Germany on June 11, and a series of UK arena dates later in June and July. Promoters are now scrambling to assess the feasibility of these shows, with some venues reportedly exploring rescheduling options should Brown remain detained beyond June 13. Ticket holders for the Dutch and German concerts have been advised to await official statements regarding potential postponements or cancellations.
