A family of five in Pretoria West was left without a home after a blazing fire destroyed it on Sunday afternoon.
According to the acting public information liaison officer for Tshwane Emergency Services, Teboho Maake, firefighters were dispatched to the scene at about 14:46.
He said upon arrival, they found an outbuilding already engulfed in flames.
“Fortunately, no one was injured as they were not home at the time,” Maake confirmed.
“There were no injuries or fatalities.”

Maake said the cause of the fire is still unknown, and investigations are currently underway to determine the cause.
Ward 1 councillor Leon Kruyshaar confirmed that the family was not at home when the fire broke out.
His assistant, Elsje Truter, provided further details, saying the family includes six-year-old twins, a four-year-old daughter, and their parents.

Truter said the fire is believed to have started in the children’s bedroom, although the exact cause remains unconfirmed.
“The roof, bedrooms, living room, and all their clothes were already gone when I got there,” she said.
“Firefighters and community members tried to control the fire, but sadly, everything was destroyed.”
She added that the family is currently being housed by a kind community member while they search for permanent accommodation.
Truter expressed deep gratitude to the Pretoria Gardens community.
She noted their quick, compassionate response and the support they provided to the family.
“We are so thankful for the community in Ward 1. Their support has been incredible.”

Those wishing to assist the family can donate food, clothing, blankets, or other essentials.
Donations can be dropped off at the Grizzlies Rugby Club in Daspoort.
