Grief In Plateau As Robbers Kill Pastor In Late-Night Robbery

A truly horrific armed robbery incident in Bassa Local Government Area of Plateau State has led to the death of a 40-year-old clergyman, Pastor Yohanna Bitrus.

According to local sources, WHO spoke to security analyst, Zagazola Makama, the pastor was ambushed by unknown assailants around 11:20 p.m. on Friday, April 18.

The attackers fatally assaulted him and made away with his motorcycle.

Police reports revealed that a resident promptly alerted authorities about the incident.

In response, the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) in Bassa led a patrol team to the scene, where Pastor Bitrus was found severely wounded with a deep machete cut to his chest.

He was immediately rushed to Bassa Cottage Hospital but was declared dead upon arrival by medical personnel.

In the aftermath of the killing, a combined team of police, military, and other security forces launched a manhunt in the surrounding forest areas to track down the perpetrators.

The Plateau State Police Command has reassured residents of ongoing efforts to bring the culprits to justice and restore peace to the community.
