Former Top Dawg Entertainment artist Reason upset Kendrick Lamar fans when he sided with Drake publicly during the rapper’s beef last year.
In a recent interview, Reason says that he tweeted in support of Drake because he was desperate to be let off the label.
“The only fans I really lost were fans that I shot myself in the foot in, but I had to do that to get out of the label deal,” he told Bootleg Kev. “When the Dot and Drake beef started, I felt like [TDE] and them were kinda, like, dragging their feet a little bit. I don’t think purposely; I just think they had a lot of s–t going on.”

Reason said that he knew that the label would want to separate themselves from him if he tweeted on Drake’s side but acknowledges that the move cost him some fans.
When Drake dropped the diss track “Push Ups,” Reason tweeted, “Nah, this final production CRAZY,” and was immediately dragged by fans for being disloyal.
A month later, TDE dropped him from the label.
