Ayesha Curry has a lot on her plate—she’s a successful entrepreneur, the founder of Sweet July, and the wife of NBA superstar Stephen Curry. But despite their busy lives, the couple remains focused on family first, ensuring their marriage and parenting responsibilities are always top priorities.
During a recent Sweet July pop-up event in San Francisco, the 35-year-old cookbook author and businesswoman sat down with PEOPLE to discuss how she and Stephen manage their demanding careers while raising four children: Riley (12), Ryan (9), Canon (6), and their newest addition, Caius Chai, born in May 2023.
Marriage Comes First
For Ayesha and Stephen, the key to maintaining a healthy family dynamic starts with prioritizing their relationship as husband and wife.
“I think for us, our relationship always comes first. Then we’re parents,” Ayesha explained. “And that works for us because then you have two happy people raising the kids in the house. So the family sector in our lives always comes first.”
By focusing on keeping their marriage strong, the couple believes they can create a stable and happy environment for their children. Rather than putting parenting ahead of their relationship, they make sure to stay connected as a couple, ensuring that their children grow up in a home with two fulfilled and happy parents.
The Power of Delegation
As a businesswoman and mother of four, Ayesha acknowledges that she can’t do it all alone—and she’s perfectly fine with that.
“Honestly, it’s just surrounding ourselves with people that are smarter than us and know what they’re doing and can make the things run,” she said. “They allow us the space to be creative and they allow us the space to truly show up however we choose to. And I think that’s what’s really worked for us.”
While Ayesha and Stephen have big ideas, they recognize the importance of trusting a strong support system to help bring their visions to life. “We’re not control freaks,” she admitted. “We have ideas, but we’re willing to let people help us see those ideas into fruition.“
Life with Baby Caius
The Curry family grew even bigger in May 2023 when Ayesha and Stephen welcomed their fourth child, Caius Chai, lovingly nicknamed Cai Cai. Now at 9 months old, Ayesha says their youngest son is thriving.
“He’s crawling and laughing. He only says dad,” she shared with a laugh.
Although she initially had concerns about the six-year age gap between Caius and his older brother Canon, Ayesha says the transition has been nothing short of magical.
“He truly feels like a big brother. He only wants to protect him. There’s no jealousy. I love it,” she said.
As for their two daughters, Riley and Ryan, they have fully embraced their roles as mini moms to their baby brother.
“The girls are like little moms,” Ayesha gushed. “It’s the best decision we’ve ever made, honestly.“

While the Currys lead high-profile lives, they remain grounded in their love for family. By prioritizing their marriage, leaning on a trusted team, and embracing the joys of parenting, they have created a balanced and fulfilling life—both at home and in their careers.
