Singer Portable and his Boys Accused of Attacking Government Officials in Ogun State

Controversial Nigerian singer Portable has been accused of assaulting government officials alongside his crew in Ogun State.

According to reports, the altercation occurred at Odogwu Bar in Iyana Ilogbo, involving officials from the Ogun State Planning and Development Permit Authority (OGPDPA).

Providing insight into the incident, popular social media influencer @man_of_letters took to his X (formerly Twitter) page to share details of the confrontation.

He revealed that the officials had visited the area a few days earlier as part of their assignment to assess regional building structures. However, tensions escalated when they arrived at Portable’s establishment, leading to a clash between both parties.

The influencer wrote on his Twitter page:

“Portable is in serious trouble, and he knows it. Let me explain what happened yesterday at his Odogwu Bar around Iyana Ilogbo.

A few days ago, the agents of the Ogun State Planning and Development Permit Authority (OGPDPA) zonal planning officers in Ibogun and Otta began a joint monitoring and auditing of the developments around the area to check planning permit status and serve notices for illegal structures in the zones.

The agents were working at the other side of the road to his bar when Portable made a video (still on his IG page) talking about how he is the town planner. He even asked people in his bar to call him town planner, and they chorused it. He bullied the agents, said no one can plan a town he is in. He continued until the town planning guys left for their safety.

Yesterday, when they got to Portable’s Bar, they met his dad, and they explained to him what they were there to do. They issued him the notice of illegal structure and told the dad that they have a number of days to challenge it if they have valid documents in their possession.

The father told them Portable was not around, but he promised that when he comes back, they would show him the notice.

As the agents were pasting the notices, Portable and his area boys arrived on Okada, and they attacked the government officials. The agents tried to run for safety, Portable then asked Okada riders to block them and beat them. He also personally slapped and assaulted the officers.

The agents ran into their vehicle, Portable jumped on Okada, and pursued them to block their escape route. The officers ran to safety in a petrol station. People shielded them, and they called their office. The office informed the police, and the police arrived in time to rescue the agents.

It’s crazy that it took the intervention of the police for the town planning agents to escape Portable and his area boys as they were beating and pelting the government agent with stones even as they hid in the petrol station.

The police went back and arrested everyone suspected to be involved in assaulting the government officials, and they moved all the vehicles of the suspects and others who escaped.

It’s easy to tell that Portable is lying because town planning officials don’t vandalize properties, and they don’t have the power to arrest people. Everyone knows that.

If his property was vandalized by the government agents, Portable would have the video, and it would be to everyone’s advantage that he post it or go to the police station and lodge a formal complaint.

Recall that Portable has a well-documented history of assaulting government agents. In 2023, he was arrested and arraigned by the Ogun State police command in 2023 for allegedly manhandling and assaulting police officers.

Portable himself is reportedly in hiding now. Anytime he shows his face, he will be arrested, and I hope he is prosecuted this time around.”
