Below Deck Down Under is back with a brand-new season, a semi-new crew, and everyone’s favorite yacht captain, Captain Jason Chambers. In a surprising move, the crew aboard the Katina will not be sailing near the coastlines of Australia or New Zealand. In a Below Deck franchise first, the show will see the crew and guests sail around the East African country, the Seychelles.
There will also be another franchise first when the Season 3 premiere drops on February 3. The season will introduce fans to a sous chef, the second-in-command in the kitchen. Below Deck has never had two chefs in the kitchen, but after chef Tzarina Mace-Ralph (the returning chef) had a few hiccups in Season 2, it appears that a sous chef will help her perfect each dish.
So, who is the sous chef joining Below Deck Down Under Season 3? His name is Anthony Bird, and he has a lot of experience cooking on yachts.

What Is Anthony Bird’s Age?
The Sous Chef Was Born On November 26
In the Below Deck Down Under Season 3 trailer, fans are introduced to a second-in-command in the kitchen named Anthony Bird. The sous chef will work under Chef Tzarina Mace-Ralph, who worked with Captain Jason in Season 2.
According to Anthony’s Bravo bio, he was born in London, England, on November 26. A year of birth is not given in his bio, but when Anthony is introduced in Episode 1, it states that he is 26-years-old. With BDDU Season 3 having been filmed in early 2024, it means that Anthony was born in 1998.
Anthony’s Bravo profile also notes that his astrological sign is Sagittarius. According to Horoscope.com, the traits of a Sagittarius include a work hard, play hard mentality.
“A Sagittarius may work hard and push themselves to the max, but only because they love their job. A Sag instinctively knows that work can help them live their best life, and works hard so they can also play hard.”
However, there are some traits of a Sag in the workplace that may pose a challenge between both Anthony and Tzarina. According to the outlet, those with a Sag sign do not “necessarily love becoming BFFs with their coworkers, and likes maintaining some professional distance. A Sag hates workplace drama, and prefers to get out of work on time and focus on their “real” life.”
The Season 3 trailer sees Anthony and Tzarina butting heads in the kitchen, which might see someone getting fired.

Anthony’s Instagram bio notes that he is a “Sole Yacht Chef,” but in Season 3 he will be working under the watchful eye of Chef Tzarina. (Unless, drama between the two sees Anthony taking control in the kitchen). His bio also states that he is from London, and he also has the Instagram handle @birdandco.
His Bravo bio notes that his favorite off-boat activities include, “Cooking, watching football, enjoying a cheeky pint at the pub, hiking, and being in nature.”
Looking at his Instagram, Bird & Co. is Anthony’s personal brand, which was launched in May 2024 and appears to be a place where he will share his life as a private chef. What Can Fans Expect With Anthony On Below Deck Down Under Season 3?
Anthony Is Seeing Butting Heads With Chef Tzarina Mace-Ralph
Before the premiere of Below Deck Down Under Season 3, Bravo released the first seven minutes of the first episode. The episode sees the crew boarding the Katina and meeting Captain Jason. Fans will recognize that both Chef Tzarina and deckhand Harry Van Vliet are back, while the rest of the crew are fresh, new faces.
Chef Tzarina is the first to board the Katina and Captain Jason fills her in that she will have a sous chef. Interestingly, Tzarina looks at Anthony as an extra hand, and not necessarily someone who will cook in the kitchen.
“To be honest, as long as he can clean and lift stuff, and hold me when I cry, that’s all I need,” she tells the captain.
In a confessional, Tzarina states, “Not only do I have a sous chef to help me with cleaning, with organization, but he’s British as well … This could be really, really awesome.”
However, as the Season 3 trailer shows, Anthony and Tzarina will come to blows as the latter is heard stating that Anthony thinks “he’s better” than her in the kitchen. Anthony is also seen cooking in the kitchen and not just cleaning and lifting as Tzarina thought. Captain Jason is also seen firing a member of his crew, although it’s uncertain who it may be.
