The Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Lateef Fagbemi, made this announcement during a formal signing ceremony of the asset agreement between Nigeria and the United States in Abuja.

According to Fagbemi, the recovered funds will be utilized for developmental projects. Specifically, $50 million will be deployed through the World Bank to develop rural electrification projects, while the remaining $2.88 million will be used by the International Institute for Justice to support counter-terrorism capacity building for Criminal Justice Sector Practitioners in Africa.

This asset return marks a significant milestone in the collaboration between Nigeria and the USA to combat corruption and uphold the rule of law.
