Edo APC backs assets panel report on indictment of Ighodalo

The Edo State chapter of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) has declared its support for the preliminary report of the State Asset Verification and Vehicle Recovery Committee, which allegedly indicted Asue Ighodalo.

The Chairman of the Edo State APC, Mr Jarrett Tenebe, argued that the committee’s findings aligned with his recent stance on allegations of wrongdoing levelled against Ighodalo.

Ighodalo had aspired to the governorship seat on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the recently concluded Edo State election.

Through his lawyer, Dr Blessing Agbomhere Esq. of Blessing Agbomhere and Partners, in a letter dated December 17, 2024, Tenebe maintained that a recent video attributed to him contained no element of defamation or defamatory innuendo against Ighodalo.

He insisted that, as the Edo State APC Chairman, his comments were made in line with his right to free speech as a Nigerian citizen.
Recall that lawyers representing Asue Ighodalo from Banwo and Ighodalo law firm in Lagos had, in a letter dated December 11, 2024, demanded an apology and retraction of the viral video on social media within seven days.

The disputed remarks were made by Tenebe on the day Governor Monday Okpebholo presented the N605 billion budget estimates to the Edo State House of Assembly.
