Chelsea returned to winning ways with a clinical win against Leicester City on Saturday. However, Harry Kane’s remarks about English players preferring club duties over the country were received in a different fashion. Chelsea boss Enzo Maresca made it clear that he was more focused on the win of the Blues over the Foxes in their latest Premier League fixture.
Talking about the team culture in an interview with the Telegraph, Harry Kane said that it wasn’t just about missing the camps. It was about building a team culture, and that should have been done step by step. He took the responsibility on himself and other senior members of the team, namely Kyle Walker and Jordan Pickford. However, Enzo Maresca claimed that he was busy in savouring his team’s victory at the King Power Stadium.

It was a dominant display from Chelsea to kickstart proceedings. Nicolas Jackson hammered home in the 15th minute to lead the show. Enzo Fernandez bagged a second in the 75th minute. It was a late penalty from Jordan Ayew that reduced the deficit, but the damage was deeply cemented until then.

During the first half, there was a heated exchange, which came hot on the heels of a rash tackle made by Leicester City’s Wilfred Ndidi on Cole Palmer. The tackle from Ndidi caught Palmer on his Achilles and was given a yellow card. However, there was dissent among the fans and experts that it should have been a red card.
Much to everyone’s surprise, there was a VAR check as well, and after that, the referee, Paul Tierney, deemed it a yellow card offense and was later defended by Chelsea boss, Enzo Maresca. Maresca said in the post-match presser that he was not in favour of that being a red card. According to him, Palmer wasn’t the target, and there was no ill intention involved.
Maresca saw no foul play involved there, and he also loved Ndidi. Chelsea plays Heidenheim next in the Europa League, where they currently sit at the top of the points table with three wins from three games.
