“The refs are gifting the Rams points” – Pass interference being called unnecessarily against the Eagles has fans questioning NFL’s credibility

The NFL officials once again came under scrutiny for a penalty called, which is deemed unnecessary on social media, in the Week 12 game between the Los Angeles Rams and the Philadelphia Eagles. For calling a penalty against the Eagles (9-2), the officials are being criticized for allowing the Rams (5-6) to score points.

It happened in the first quarter, when Philly’s Jake Elliott succeeded with a 21-yard field goal, taking an early lead in the game. But on the very next offensive drive, the Rams’ Kyren Williams scored a touchdown on a one-yard run.

Interestingly, this short scoring dash was made possible only after the officials called a defensive pass interference penalty on the Eagles’ Darius Slay, resulting in moving the ball to Philadelphia’s one-yard line. Unfortunately for the Eagles, this was not the only pass interference call made in the game.

Later in the third quarter, when Los Angeles found themselves down to 20-7, the officials flagged cornerback Isaiah Rodgers making a third-down pass. This was the second pass interference call against the Eagles, that advanced the ball to their three-yard line, giving the Rams the perfect opportunity to score a touchdown as they did two plays later.

Fans, who were already not validating the first pass interference penalty, did not hold back from calling out the officials for the second penalty, arguing it was the Rams’ only score in the Week 12 game.

One fan wrote, “Eagles are getting robbed this game. The refs are the only reason it’s close!”, while another wrote, “Egregious! Heinous crimes last night by the refs! Need to be investigated.” Here are some of the fan reactions.

After the second pass interference penalty, the Rams improved to 20-14. However, the Eagles were all charged up as they increased the lead to 30-14 with a touchdown and field goal, before clinching the 37-20 feat.

Saquon Barkley’s historic performance leads Eagles to victory over Rams

The Eagles started the game slow, and their star Saquon Barkley turned the game around in the second half by taking the 20-7 lead. He made a franchise record by running 255 yards in the Sunday Night Football game which also marked the ninth-best in NFL history for a single game.

These guys here are amazing. They make my job a lot easier. I’m probably gonna get a lot of credit, but in reality, the beauty of this game is that it’s a team game.

Saquon Barkley said about his record-breaking game in the post-game press conference.

The two-time Pro Bowler has been the best contributor to the Eagles’ top running game. Philly outperformed the Rams with 481 yards compared to their opponents’ 290. They also dominated the ground game with 314 rushing yards and only had to punt once in the game.
