Los Angeles Dodgers yet again lost one of their core players prior to the October games. While it’s not been confirmed whether Teoscar Hernandez will be put in IL or not, the concern seems to linger in the back of the management’s mind.
Manager Dave Roberts did not sound very optimistic about his condition, despite the X-rays coming out clean after the game. He stated how Hernandez is a tough guy and usually, if he gets hurt, it subsides with given time. However, the fact that he went back into the dugout was concerning.
The incident took place during the first inning of the LA Dodgers vs. Cleveland Guardians game when Teoscar Hernandez took a slider on his foot/ankle from pitcher Matthew Boyd. The game ended with a 3-1 loss for LA.
The veteran slugger immediately went down after being hit and was later helped by personnel to get medical treatment. While the reports did not indicate anything serious, it is tough to say when Hernandez can be back in the lineup.
With October games right in front of them, the team will be in a dire situation if the outfielder remains sidelined. There’s no guarantee how Yoshinobu Yamamoto will perform after coming off from IL after 3 months.
Scans, X-ray was negative. We’re going to get some scans tomorrow just to kind of dig in a little bit more and get some information. He’s as tough as they come, and he could barely move his foot. So I don’t see how it’s not going to be an IL, but I’m sure we’re going to give it a couple days to kind of see how he comes out.Dave Roberts as per Matthew Moreno of Dodger Blue.
Dave Roberts said Teoscar Hernández was “not great” but scans on x-ray came back negative. Will do additional scans. Might have an IL stint 🙁

Roberts further expressed that he is highly concerned about the current situation, as the team has been seeing the IL list quite a few times this year. “He doesn’t come out of games, and just afterward, typically it subsides with the pain. But it didn’t, so it’s concerning,” he added.
Teoscar Hernandez’s injury has put the LA Dodgers on a tightrope considering the harsh playoff battle that’s currently going on. The team’s been infected with several IL stints throughout this season. Fans are praying for Hernandez to be ok. One X user noted, “Please be ok“, while another said, “Bro they genuinely can’t catch a break wthh.”
Apart from Hernandez, Yoshinobu Yamamoto, Gavin Stone, Joe Kelly, Tyler Glasnow, and Clayton Kershaw are all currently out of the lineup after getting sidelined with injuries. Yamamoto is expected to be back soon, and so is reliever Brusdar Graterlo.

This sounds not as bad as it looked, but I’m guessing there’s more to it here (bone bruise, etc.)?

Pitchers need to be suspended for things like this, they are professionals who are they missing the target this badly. This is absolutely unacceptable!

Glasnow and Tony Gonsolin are expected to join by the end of the month. They’ll all be important additions to the team as LA pursues another NL West title. Hopefully, the fans will also get to see Hernandez join the roster soon enough.
