The Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities ( SSANU) weekend asked President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to extend the distribution of Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) buses to universities to aid transportation of staff and students.
A communique issued at the end of National Executive Council (NEC) of the association said it also warned against crisis in the education sector over the 18- year age for registration of WAEC and JAMB.
The communique which was signed by the national president, Comrade Mohammed Haruna Ibrahim said the association also appeal to government to quickly implement the directives of the president by paying the four months withheld salaries owed her members.
The communique reads in part: “The union is aware that government has commenced distribution of CNG buses to various states in the country.
“NEC in session had lengthy deliberations on the matter and resolved that there was need to request government to extend distribution of the buses to all universities to aid in transportation of staff and students.
“The union is aware of the presidential directive for release of the 4 months withheld salaries of members of SSANU and NASU. We are however baffled that almost two months after, our members are yet to be paid.
“NEC therefore calls on the relevant government agencies to implement the directive of the president by paying our members their 4 months withheld salanes”.
On the earned allowance, NEC in session noted with dismay the continued delay by government, despite several letters and correspondences written, and interactions with government to pay our members the outstanding earned allowances.
