President Bola Tinubu has commissioned the first completed section of the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Superhighway, a vital artery for trade, tourism, and national integration. The landmark event was part of activities marking the second anniversary of his presidency.
Tinubu reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to local content, technology transfer, and inclusive national development. He directed the Minister of Works, David Umahi, to enforce full compliance with laws on local content and technology transfer. The President also warned developers that the Federal Government would enforce setbacks, stating that those who fail to get approvals would not be compensated.
Apart from the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway, Tinubu virtually commissioned several other completed infrastructure projects, including: Lagos-Ibadan Expressway (Shagamu-Ibadan section)
East-West Road (Eleme Junction to Ahoada), Alesi-Ugep Road in Cross River State. Ikorodu-Shagamu Road linking Lagos and Ogun States, Enugu-Lokpanta Expressway, New Artisan Market Bridge in Enugu, and 75-meter single-span bridge at Akpoha in Ebonyi State.
Tinubu also flagged off construction on several new road projects, including: Ibadan-Ife-Ilesha-Akure-Benin highway, Nembe-Brass Road in the Niger Delta, Reconstruction of parts of the Enugu-Onitsha expressway, and Construction of the Abakpa Flyover in Enugu State.
Senate President Godswill Akpabio advised second-term state governors to prioritize vision over loyalty in picking their successors. He cautioned against choosing successors based on subservience, warning that such decisions often lead to betrayal.
