Clipse fans received good news this week after Pusha T and No Malice officially announced their hotly anticipated album, Let God Sort ‘Em Out, set to drop July 11.
Clipse was previously signed to Def Jam, but fans noticed that the record label was not mentioned in or on the release or promotional materials. In a recent interview with GQ, Pusha T spilled the tea on why.
Pusha T said the fallout between Clipse and the label was over Kendrick Lamar’s guest verse on the track “Chains & Whips.”
“They wanted me to ask Kendrick to censor his verse, which of course I was never doing. And then they wanted me to take the record off. And so, after a month of not doing it, Steve Gawley, the lawyer over there was like, ‘We’ll just drop the Clipse.’ But that can’t work because I’m still there [solo]. But [if] you let us all go…”
Pusha T says they walked away from the label, and now Let Got Sort ‘Em Out is coming out on Jay-Z’s Roc Nation.
