Aliyu Audu, Senior Special Assistant to President Bola Tinubu on Public Affairs, has tendered his resignation, effective immediately. In a letter dated June 8, Audu expressed gratitude to the President for the opportunity to serve and praised former presidential spokesman Ajuri Ngelale, who recommended him for the role.
Audu stated, “It has been an honour to contribute to the public communication efforts of this administration.” He thanked the President for the experience and assured him of his continued prayers for the success of his leadership and the progress of Nigeria.
As of the time of this report, the Presidency has not responded to Audu’s resignation. The reasons behind his decision to step down are not clear, but his resignation marks a significant development in the President’s team.
Sources have quoted Audu as saying he resigned because he did not want to be used as a tool to achieve one party system in Nigeria.
