Flood Wreaks Oyo Communities, Leaves Trail of Destruction

A devastating flood has hit some communities in Oyo State, destroying properties and farmlands worth millions of naira. The affected communities are Ilu-Aje and Imini in the Afijio Local Government Area. The flood caught residents off guard, leaving them with significant losses.

One of the victims, Àkeem Olatunbosun, lamented the unexpected nature of the disaster, saying, “We cannot quantify our losses which include farmland and other valuables.” He called on the State Government to intervene and mitigate the effects on affected families.

The Oyo State Road Maintenance Agency expressed its deepest condolences to those affected, acknowledging the devastating impact on communities, homes, and livelihoods. The agency’s Chairman, Busoye Ogunlade, assured the public of its commitment to finding ways to provide necessary assistance and prevent future occurrences.
