Ahead of the Eid-Al-Kabir celebration, the Federal Government has announced the addition of extra train services between Lagos and Ibadan.
In a statement issued on Wednesday, the Nigeria Railway Corporation said the “special Eid service” is in response to the increased number of passengers travelling for the celebration.
Signed by Callistus Unyimadu, the Acting Deputy Director of Public Relations for the NRC, the statement said the extra trios have been skated for Thursday, June 5.
According to Unyimadu, the Lagos to Ibadan trips have now been scheduled to take off at 8 am, 1.55 pm and 4 pm.
For Ibadan to Lagos, the new timing will now be 8am, 11.03 am and 4.46 pm
Unyimadu said, “Additionally, in the spirit of Eid-al-Kabir and to ensure smooth travel for Muslim faithful and other passengers on the Warri-Itakpe corridor, the NRC will operate a Special Train Service on Thursday, June 5, 2025, which would ordinarily be a non-operational day reserved for maintenance.”
He further stated that the routine maintenance which was initially scheduled to take place on Thursday has now been rescheduled to Sunday, June 8.
“The normal Abuja – Kaduna (AKTS) will run as scheduled with additional coaches attached to it,” Unyimadu added.
Wishing all passengers and Muslim faithful a splendid Eid celebration, Unyimadu said the NRC is committed to the safety of all rail travellers.
