Social media commentator Martins Otse, popularly known as VeryDarkMan, has finally opened up about the circumstances surrounding his recent arrest and detention by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
In a video released on Saturday, May 10, VeryDarkMan recounted the events that led to his unexpected detention. According to him, the incident began when he visited a GTBank branch with his mother and a friend. The visit was in response to a mysterious loan allegedly taken using his mother’s National Identification Number (NIN), despite her never applying for one.
Prior to the arrest, VeryDarkMan had publicly criticized GTBank for making unauthorized deductions from his mother’s salary account. During their visit to the bank, they reportedly received assistance from staff to investigate the matter further.
However, things took an unexpected turn when a police officer briefly prevented him from exiting the bank. He later claimed this delay was a coordinated effort. Once outside, he and his companions were intercepted by security operatives, who allegedly blindfolded him and his friend before taking them into custody.
VeryDarkMan revealed that he was transported to an EFCC facility where he was interrogated on a range of issues — including his income, personal assets, and his controversial remarks concerning gospel artist Mercy Chinwo and her label boss, Eezee Tee.
Describing the experience as traumatic, he accused GTBank of orchestrating his detainment and went as far as labeling the EFCC’s actions as an unlawful abduction.
In a caption of the lengthy video, VDM wrote,
“This is the full story of everything that happened with the efcc and GT..how I was and held host@ge at Gt bank and how I was knppd by efcc, the money found in my account, my source of income, my assets,no petitions whatsoever not just that no charges until I got there, mercy chinwo and eazyt issues, Okoya kids everything.”
