Three Kebbi senators dump PDP for APC

Three senators representing Kebbi State on Tuesday defected from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

The defectors are Adamu Aliero (Kebbi Central), Yahaya Abdullahi (Kebbi North), and Garba Maidoki (Kebbi South).

Their letters of defection were read on Tuesday by Deputy Senate President Barau Jibrin, who presided over Tuesday’s plenary session.

They are Adamu Aliero, senator representing Kebbi central; Yahaya Abdullahi, lawmaker for Kebbi north; and Garba Maidoki for Kebbi south.

Their letters of defection were read during Tuesday’s plenary by Barau Jibrin, deputy senate president, who presided over the session.

Jibrin described the defection as a major boost for the ruling party ahead of the 2027 general election.

“It shows that there will be a lot of successes and victories for the APC in the future. It is just a testimony, a kind of a sign of what is going to happen,” Jibrin said.

“For the first time, we have a progressive president of this country and Nigerians are beginning to understand the ideas of progressive politics.

“I know, by the grace of God, any future election—all the future elections in the future—victory will come our way.

“So let me congratulate Mr President and the party chairman, and I urge you to continue on this good work you are doing for the party and the nation at large.”
