However, one of the things about Chicago Med that can sometimes be forgotten is that the show can be fun at times. Two storylines from Chicago Med Season 10 are perfect example of how much fun the show can be when it wants to be.

During one Season 10 episode of Chicago Med, fans saw the show’s main characters acting like friends. Not only that, the storyline seemed like something that could have shown up in a workplace comedy like The Office or Superstore.

The reason why the storyline seemed like something out of a sitcom was that it focused on the kind of workplace silliness that can sometimes happen in real life.

Chicago Med Recently Improved One Of The Best Characters And Needs To Keep Going

Chicago Med has finally given one of its best characters more attention, and fans are dying for more.

No matter if someone works in an office space of a hospital, one thing always remains true. The unfortunate truth is that when people spend long hours each week in a workspace can easily begin to feel very boring.

In September 2024, Variety published an article about what Chicago Med’s new showrunner had planned for the show’s 10th season. That article revealed that Chicago Med’s new boss, Allen MacDonald, told the outlet that Season 10 would add more humor. “I believe that if I’m bringing a unique brand of storytelling to the show, it is to continue the emotion of the characters in their interactions, but I also like bringing humor. I’m not saying the show didn’t have humor before at all. I have always loved drama, and I’ve especially always loved drama with humor sprinkled in there too. And when I say humor, I don’t mean jokes, I mean recognizably human moments that people laugh at because they recognize it in themselves or someone they know. A laugh is an emotional reaction.”

As a result of that boredom, co-workers can be surprisingly inventive when coming up with ways to pass time.

Not only that, the truth is that people in real life can also be even more inventive when coming up with reasons to drink.

These Chicago Med Characters From The Past Need To Return Like Dr. Sarah Reese

Chicago Med could become great again if these characters from the past rejoined the show’s cast.

One of Chicago Med Season 10’s two most fun storylines played into those truths. After all, the storyline involved Chicago Med’s character engaging in a playful way of deciding who would buy drinks for all their co-workers after work.

During the episode, the show’s medical staff were shown sneakily trying to attach a clip to each other’s clothes. It was then revealed that whoever had the clip attached to their clothes at the end of their shift was supposed to buy a round of drinks for their co-workers.

One of the brilliant aspects of this storyline was that the show didn’t need to constantly focus on the clip. Instead, viewers knew that the clip was moving around the hospital in the background of the chaos.

Ultimately, the clip wound up attached to Steven Weber’s character, Dr. Dean Archer. That was notable because the rules, which were set up when the storyline was introduced, dictated that people couldn’t attach the clip to Dr. Archer. Because Dr. Archer can be such a grump, his co-workers assumed he would refuse to buy drinks.

Ultimately, Dr. Archer came through for his co-workers. Fans then learned that Dr. Archer had been demoted, which was a great example of how a fun storyline could play into the show’s dramatic storylines too.

Chicago Med’s Dr. Dean Archer Was At The Center Of Another Fun Storyline

During another episode of Chicago Med’s 10th season, viewers learned that Gaffney Chicago Medical Center was in danger of being shut down. An episode with a storyline that dramatic doesn’t seem like it would be described as being fun. However, while the episode could certainly be dramatic, Steven Weber’s character, Dr. Dean Archer introduced some delightful silliness to the episode.

Chicago Med Has Gone Severely Downhill For This Likely Irreversible Reason

Chicago Med fans have sadly watched the show go downhill because of a trend on the show that likely is irreversible.

From the moment that Chicago Med fans were introduced to Dr. Archer, there was no doubt that he could be a major grump. As a result, it has always been fun when fans of the show have gotten to see Dr. Archer enjoy a little happiness.

However, no fans would have predicted that Dr. Archer would be downright silly during an episode of Chicago Med.

Early on during a Season 10 episode of Chicago Med, Dr. Archer was seen treating a man who was clearly under the influence of a substance. During that scene, one of that man’s friends was shown making contact with Dr. Archer. When he began acting silly as the episode progressed, it was discovered that Dr. Archer had been dosed with the same substance.

In real life, a doctor being dosed with a substance like that could be horrifying. However, Dr. Archer simply got to drop his gruff exterior and become joyous in the hospital room.

In a truly fun series of events, Dr. Archer wound up saving the hospital in that state. The reason for that is Dr. Archer’s positive view of the world influenced the character who had to decide the fate of the hospital and convinced him to go easy on the medical center. The whole storyline was further proof that Chicago Med can be fun and dramatic at the same time.
