Ronke Oshodi-Oke Hails Iyabo Ojo, Defends Tope Alabi Amid Criticism Over Daughter’s Wedding

Veteran Nollywood actress, Ronke Oshodi-Oke, has publicly praised fellow actress Iyabo Ojo for her maturity and sense of unity in inviting her ex-husband to their daughter Priscilla Ojo’s wedding.

Ronke made the statement during a recent chat with Oyin Momo TV, highlighting Iyabo’s commitment as a mother and her thoughtful parenting over the years. She recalled how Iyabo used to move around with her children when they were younger, describing her as a hands-on and loving parent.

“I give kudos to Iyabo Ojo. When Priscilla and her brother were young, she was always going everywhere with them. She is a devoted mother. I now respect her more when I saw Priscilla’s dad at the wedding. I also learnt a lesson from her,” she said.

She then weighed in on the ongoing criticism of gospel singer Tope Alabi, whose ex-husband was noticeably absent from their daughter’s wedding. Ronke encouraged the public to avoid rushing to conclusions, suggesting that the decision may have come from the daughter herself.

“Don’t let us blame Tope Alabi for not allowing the father of her daughter to be present at her wedding. The girl is 27 years old, maybe she was the one that didn’t want to see her dad. She is an adult. If she really wanted her dad, she would have insisted to her mum,” Ronke added.

While she clarified that she doesn’t support completely sidelining a parent, Ronke stressed the importance of understanding the complexities involved in such personal family situations. She concluded by noting that in Iyabo’s case, Priscilla likely wanted her father present, which made his inclusion possible.
