Four individuals, including three children, have died in Katsina State after consuming suspected poisoned spaghetti, with a fourth victim currently hospitalized. The incident, which occurred in the Magama Jibia area, has led to the arrest of three suspects, including the food preparer, as authorities launch an investigation into the shocking tragedy.

According to a statement by security expert Zagazola Makama posted on X.com, the victims—Hussaina Ayuba, Ahmed Ayuba, and Nana Ayuba—were rushed to Jibia General Hospital after eating the contaminated meal but succumbed during treatment. A 12-year-old girl, Hafsat Ayuba, remains under medical care and is reportedly recovering.

Makama revealed that Fatima Abdulkadir, 20, who prepared the spaghetti, and two accomplices were detained in connection with the incident.

Local sources confirmed police visited the scene, and the bodies of the deceased were released to families for burial in accordance with Islamic rites. Authorities emphasized the investigation is ongoing, though motives remain unclear.

When contacted by Katsina State Police Public Relations Officer Abubakar Aliyu requested details via text message but had not responded by the time of publication.

The community mourns as questions linger over the circumstances of the poisoning. With suspects in custody and autopsies pending, residents await answers while grappling with the heartbreaking loss of young lives.
