Mercy Aigbe wins Best Supporting Actress at 2025 AMVCA (Video)

Nollywood actress Mercy Aigbe has won the Best Supporting Actress at the Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards.

Kemi Filani reported on Saturday night that the 11th edition of the prestigious award was held at Eko Hotels and Suites, Lagos and as expected, many celebrities were in attendance.

Aigbe had beaten several of her colleagues like Meg Otanwa, Tina MBA, Ireti Doyle, Ini Dima Okojie, Omoni Oboli and Darasimi Nadi to win Best Supporting Actress for her role in Farmer’s Bride.

An overjoyed Mercy in her speech, expressed how humbled she is to still be getting recognition despite being in the industry for over 20 years.

“I feel so humbled. It’s such an incredible honour to get recognition for your work. I’ve been doing this for over twenty-something years and still get this recognition. To God be the glory. Big thanks to the AMVCA awards. Thank you to Film One Studios for having me on this project. Thank you to the cast and crew, my director, and everyone who has supported me.”

Just a day ago, Aigbe reflected on her first AMVCA win and noted that she has received several nominations since then. The wife of Kazim Adeoti expressed gratitude that despite over twenty years in the industry, she is still relevant and still gets nominations. Aigbe said she can’t override the power of consistency, authenticity, and reinvention in her journey.

Mercy Aigbe made her first delve into Cinema production with Ada Omo Daddy which grossed one N187 million and was the 3rd highest grossing movie in 2023. This was a huge milestone, especially with competition from Funke Akindele and Toyin Abraham.

Following the success of her first Cinema movie, the movie producer had worked on her second Cinema movie, Thin Line which was also a success at the Cinema as it grossed over N100 million at the box office.

In March, Aigbe shared one of her greatest joys as a filmmaker. The movie star revealed that her greatest joy as a filmmaker was knowing that her movie resonates with so many people and evokes emotions. She expressed how incredible it was to see how her 2023 film touched hearts and continues to inspire many more.
