Kim Kardashian spoke in court on Tuesday about the terrifying robbery she went through in Paris back in 2016. The reality star told the judge how she was tied up and thought she was going to die when thieves broke into her hotel room and stole millions of dollars in jewelry.
“I was certain that was the moment that he was going to rape me,” Kim told a Paris court Tuesday. “I absolutely did think I was going to die.”
The 10 men made off with more than $9 million worth of jewelry. The French press has dubbed them the “Grandpa Robbers,” as most of the men are in their 70s.
According to the reality star turned mogul, she was winding down for the night when she heard loud stomping on the stairs. Thinking it was her sister Kourtney Kardashian and a friend coming back drunk from a Fashion Week night out, she called out, “Hello? Hello? Who is it?”
Kim says that the masked men then burst into her hotel suite. She tried to grab her phone, but she didn’t know the French emergency number. In a panic, she attempted to reach Kourtney and her bodyguard, but one of the robbers cut her off. The men threw her onto the bed, zip-tied her wrists, and pressed a gun to her.
“I have babies,” she reportedly told them, fighting back tears. “I have to make it home. They can take everything. I just have to make it home.”
Kim said she was then carried into the bathroom, where one of the attackers taped her mouth shut. She was told she’d be fine as long as she stayed quiet.
She says that since the robbery, she has changed up her personal style and has security travel everywhere with her…even in her hotel rooms.
