Kevin Liles is firing back at former Def Jam rapper Lady Luck, accusing her of trying to shake him down for $30 million.
In a public statement, the longtime music executive claimed that Lady Luck, whose real name is Shanell Jones, and her legal team threatened to drop a bombshell tell-all book and sue him unless he coughed up the cash.
The book reportedly includes explosive claims that he groomed the rapper after signing her as a teen in 1999, exposed himself, and even tried to force her into a sexual act in his car.
“None of this ever happened,” Liles said in a statement. “Her threatened allegations are totally false. Rather than pay her and her legal team, I am publicly addressing what I view to be an extortion attempt.”
“It seems Mrs. Jones hopes to leverage the current news environment to pressure me into writing an exorbitant check in order to avoid the negative publicity that will likely result from her false claims,” he continues. “I intend to vigorously fight any complaint she may file and will take whatever legal action is necessary against her and the attorneys who have participated in this attempted shakedown.”
Liles is fighting to have the sexual assault lawsuit thrown out of court.
“I will not be extorted, nor will I pay a dollar to those that threaten to ruin my reputation.”
