Kanye West Reveals North West’s Health Struggles—But Many Say He Crossed a Line
Kanye West is once again making headlines—but this time, it’s not about music, fashion, or even his own controversial antics. It’s about his daughter, North West, and what many are calling an uncomfortably personal overshare.
During a recent livestream, Ye revealed that his 12-year-old daughter, whom he shares with Kim Kardashian, has dyslexia and also struggles with bowel issues. He made the comments while criticizing comedians and others for making jokes about North’s public appearances, saying they don’t know “what she’s going through” behind the scenes.
“They don’t know that she’s dyslexic and they got her in a f*ing corner at the school,” he said. “They don’t know that she… is having problems with her bowel movements and st.”

Almost immediately, the internet paused—not just out of concern for North, but because many people felt that Kanye’s public defense of his daughter crossed a serious line.
Let’s be clear: no one should be making fun of a child, especially one navigating life in the spotlight. North West didn’t ask for fame. She didn’t ask to become a meme. And if she’s dealing with real health issues, she absolutely deserves support and privacy.
But here’s the thing: outing your child’s private medical information to millions of people isn’t protection—it’s exposure.
Social media users were quick to call Ye out, with one commenter summing it up best: “Why is he sharing his daughter’s bodily issues with the public? That’s something she should get to talk about—if and when she wants to.”

Others expressed deep concern for North’s future, saying they feared how painful it might be for her to look back on these very public moments one day. And let’s be real—she will see them. Everything said about her now, especially by her own father, is just a Google search away.
And while Kanye has always worn his heart—and his rants—on his sleeve, this felt different. This wasn’t a celebrity feud or a fashion meltdown. This was a young girl’s personal life, shared without her consent.
What’s more, Kim Kardashian has stayed silent (so far) on the issue. No statements. No Instagram Stories. Nothing. But it’s hard to imagine she’s thrilled about North’s medical history being broadcast to the world—especially considering her own efforts to shield the kids from the harshest parts of celebrity life.
Kanye’s intention may have been to defend his daughter, but as many moms, aunties, and big sisters online have pointed out: protecting your child means guarding their privacy, too.
Yes, we should talk more openly about learning disabilities. Yes, we need to remove the stigma around children’s health and neurodivergence. But those conversations should be empowering, not humiliating—and definitely not done for the internet’s consumption.
