The Forum of Ayatutu Professors (FAP) has blamed the federal and state governments for failing to protect the lives and property of citizens in Benue State, amid ongoing killings by armed herdsmen. Despite government efforts, the Forum notes that the governments have failed in their responsibility to protect citizens.
The FAP recommends a community approach to security, suggesting that citizens organize to defend their lives and land. The Forum calls for the expansion of the Benue State Bureau of Homeland Security to include Farming Communities Protection and proposes an annual levy to fund its activities.
The FAP urges Governor Hyacinth Alia and traditional rulers to remain focused on addressing the crisis. The Forum also encourages the National and State Legislature to take urgent action to address the situation.The FAP’s objectives include fostering unity, promoting safe and sustainable environmental management, advocating for safety and security, and encouraging wealth creation.
The Forum aims to improve the standard of living for citizens through various initiatives.The FAP emphasizes the need for unity and collective action among the Tiv and Benue people to challenge and fight the humiliation they are facing. The Forum believes that a united front is essential to addressing the crisis.
