Nigerian rapper and songwriter Lil Kesh has opens up on his battle with ADHD.
In a recent interview, the former YBNL singer revealed he has been struggling with anxiety and undiagnosed ADHD. He stated that though he doesn’t want to identify as one, he definitely has one.
Lil Kesh said he diagnosed himself as he explained that although many people causally label themselves as having ADHD, his runs deeper.
He further added that the disorder was worsened by life in the limelight and other personal challenges and triggers. His disclosed that is biggest triggers is uncertainty as not having clarity gives him anxiety.
“I don’t like to identify as ADHD, but I have ADHD.
I diagnosed myself, but trust me, I know.”
Everybody has a particular level of ADHD to them. But it’s bad when it is a disorder. I’ve had my fair share of that disorder right from when I was a kid.
I feel like not knowing, lack of clarity… that’s one thing that can give me anxiety,”
“Once I know what it is that I’m dealing with or what type of emotion I’m actually feeling or what my problem really is, that is half solved.”
ADHD, Attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder, is a condition including attention difficulty, hyperactivity and impulsiveness”.
Lil Kesh isn’t the only celebrity struggling with ADHD. Nigerian disc jockey, DJ Cuppy had cried out over the challenges she faced while preparing for her last term at Oxford University. According to her, her thesis was due and she was under so much pressure to deliver at such a high academic standard. She admitted that it had been draining in a mental and even emotional way.
In a different news, Lil Kesh declared that he was still a virgin. He revealed this through a letter addressed to his yet-to-be-found soulmate, where he amusingly narrated an almost encounter with losing his virginity and attributed his continued purity to a strong sense of self-control. He concluded the letter with a heartwarming promise to his future partner, assuring her that he is patiently waiting for her to come into his life.
Recall that back in 2016, the Headies Awards in Nigeria had its share of drama, where Lil Kesh played a major role. In a revelation that provides insight into his early career, Lil Kesh shared the story of how he met the renowned Nigerian artist Olamide. He credited his introduction to Olamide to a mutual acquaintance named Victor.
