Fear gripped residents of the Ogbese community in Akure North, Ondo State, on Monday night after three members of the Deeper Christian Life Ministry were kidnapped by unknown gunmen.

The victims were returning from an evening Bible study session at the church’s Kasemola branch when they were intercepted and whisked away by the assailants. A church member, who spoke to reporters under the condition of anonymity, disclosed the incident, expressing deep concern over the security situation in the area.

“Three of our members were kidnapped after the Bible study at Kasemola area in Ogbese. It happened suddenly as they were heading home. Everyone is terrified,” the source said.
In response, church leaders quickly mobilized prayer groups to intercede for the safe return of the abductees, while also informing law enforcement authorities.

The Ondo State Police Command confirmed the abduction. Police spokesperson, SP Ayanlade Olayinka, stated that security operatives, including the Amotekun Corps, are already combing surrounding forests in a bid to locate and rescue the victims.
“Our officers are on the trail of the kidnappers. We are doing everything possible to ensure the safe release of those abducted,” Olayinka assured.
This latest incident adds to the growing list of kidnappings in parts of the country, intensifying calls for improved security, especially around places of worship and religious gatherings.

Local residents and church members are urging authorities to fast-track rescue efforts and increase surveillance in rural communities vulnerable to such attacks.
