Florida Congresswoman Anna Paulina Luna used her social media following to call on California Governor Gavin Newsom to free Tory Lanez, who is serving a 10-year sentence for the shooting of Megan Thee Stallion.
“I am calling on Gov. Newsom @CAgovernor to review Tory Lanez’s case and issue a pardon,” she wrote. “His 10-year sentence was based on flawed evidence, political pressure, and prosecutorial bias. He is an innocent man that had been wrongly incarcerated! Justice must be blind! Free Tory Lanez.”
This comes just days after Lanez’s legal team called for a pardon in a press conference. Lanez’s legal team says that he is innocent and that Megan’s former best friend, Kelsey Harris, was the person who fired the shots that night.
Lanez’s team says that DNA evidence from that night cleared him and that he was trying to resolve the fight between the two women that night. Lanez has always denied shooting Megan Thee Stallion, who has fought hard to keep him behind bars.
Megan has not spoken publicly about Luna’s call to free Lanez.
