Enugu Reps member dumps Labour Party for APC

The member of the House of Representatives elected on the platform of the Labour Party in Enugu State, Sunday Umeha, has defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Umeha, who represents Udi/Ezeagu federal constituency, announced his defection at an event of the APC at Ibagwa Aka, Igbo-Eze South local government area of Enugu State on Saturday.

Speaking at the rally, Umeha explained that the protracted crisis rocking the Labour Party at both the National and state levels has made it impossible for him to effectively represent his people.

The lawmaker said his decision to join the ruling party is to “connect to the centre and bring our people closer because “there are a lot of advantages in plugging to the center.”

He said that the APC has served the interest of Igbos better than the PDP at the federal level, citing the Enugu-Onitsha Expressway and Enugu-Port Harcourt roads as some of the landmark projects the current ruling party has done in Igbo land.
