Governor Hyacinth Alia of Benue State has refuted speculations that he is planning to dump the All Progressives Congress (APC) for the African Democratic Congress (ADC).
In a statement yesterday by his Chief Press Secretary, Sir Tersoo Kula, the governor described the report as “fake news” and a product of “yellow journalism.”
He reaffirmed his unwavering loyalty to the ruling party, declaring that he had no intention of leaving the party under which he was elected.
The speculations, according to Alia, are “laughable and lame.”
The spokesman reiterated that his principal has a good working relationship with Benue APC chairman, Benjamin Omale. “There is no doubt about the governor’s loyalty to the APC,” the CPS said.
IN a significant political development, the Kwankwasiyya Movement made a powerful entry into Ogbabede Ward, Dekina council area of Kogi State, with over 300 members of the All Progressives Party (APC) and Social Democratic Party (SDP) officially joining the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP).
The defection was led by Husseini Umar Eniji, a prominent political figure and a key driver of the Kwankwasiyya ideology in the region.
The development signals a growing momentum for the NNPP in Kogi State, further unsettling the strongholds of both the APC and SDP ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Eniji, once a fearless and influential financial member of the SDP, who also contested the Dekina council chairmanship, has emerged as a pivotal force in the expansion of the Kwankwasiyya Movement.
The defection marks a strategic shift in the political landscape of Dekina and is expected to reverberate across Kogi State in the months leading up to 2027.
