Former Vice Presidents, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar and Alhaji Namadi Sambo, on Friday, paid a visit to former Osun State governor, Rauf Aregbesola, at his country home, in Ilesa.
Though the reason for the visit still remains unknown as of the time of filing the report, a source informed our correspondent that the development might not be unconnected to moves by Atiku to build a strong coalition ahead of the 2027 presidential election.
The visit occurred a few hours to the coronation ceremony of the 41st Owa Obokun of Ijesaland, Oba Clement Adesuyi Haastrup.
A video of the visit sighted by The Guardian showed Aregbesola receiving Atiku’s entourage in his residence.
Confirming the visit in a post shared on his verified X (formerly Twitter) account, accompanied by a video clip showing the leaders exchanging pleasantries, Atiku stated: “Breakfast time at the residence of the former governor of Osun State, Engr. Rauf Aregbesola.”
Among the stakeholders in the political camp of Aregbesola, Omoluabi Progressives, who received Atiku and Sambo, include former Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Osun State, Elder Adelowo Adebiyi; Chairman of Omoluabi Progressives, Alhaji Azeez Adesiji; former Speaker of Osun State House of Assembly.
