Nigerian human rights activist, Omoyele Sowore, has alleged that the Nigeria Police Force is planning to detain popular TikToker Ogunsanwo Olumide John, also known as @Seaking303, under the pretense of a rescheduled meeting regarding his purportedly offensive comments about Pastor Enoch Adeboye of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG).
In a post shared via his verified X handle on Saturday, Sowore revealed that the meeting initially scheduled for Monday, April 21, 2025, has been postponed by the police to Friday, April 25, 2025.
“The @PoliceNG has postponed the meeting between me — standing surety for tiktoker @seaking303 — and their team over his comments on @PastorEAAdeboye of @rccghq,” Sowore posted.
“Considering that Monday is a public holiday for Easter Monday, we’ve agreed with the @PoliceNG to postpone action until Friday.”
Sowore, who is also the convener of the #RevolutionNow movement, warned that the rescheduling could be a deliberate ploy to detain the TikToker through the weekend.
“I know the trick by the @PoliceNG in inviting @seaking303 on Friday is to detain him and ensure he’s not free until the following week,” he alleged.
“Accordingly, any action that violates his rights will be resisted. ALL ACTIONS REMAIN CONSTANT! #EgbetokunMustGo”

The activist also confirmed that the protest actions earlier scheduled for Monday would now hold on Friday to align with the police’s new date.
This development follows a formal invitation from the police that read “I have been directed to inform you that your earlier suggested date being 21/04/2025 has been rescheduled for Friday 25/04/2025. Thanks pls.”
The controversy began after @seaking303, a TikToker with a sizable following, allegedly made critical remarks about Pastor Adeboye.
The police had invited him for questioning, and Sowore, acting as surety, has been involved in subsequent meetings.
There have also been nationwide calls for IGP Egbetokun’s resignation, stemming from his retirement age, police brutality, abuse of the Cybercrime Act to arrest critics, and the shrinking civic space in Nigeria.
