Rivers: 70,000 litres of stolen petroleum products impounded by NSCDC

A long container truck containing 70,000 stolen petroleum products has been intercepted by officials of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC).

The officials impounded the truck with the products safely hidden in an inbuilt storage tank in Port Harcourt, Rivers State’s capital city.

In a post on its X page, the NSCDC said an operation was carried out by the corps’ commandant general’s special intelligence squad.

The post said that the operation was part of NSCDC’s move to fight oil theft and illegal hunkering in Rivers State.

The operation, the corps said follows intelligence gathering on activities of oil thieves operating in the Niger Delta region.

“NSCDC commandant general special intelligence squad impounds long container truck with 70,000 stolen petroleum products stored inside inbuilt storage tank in Port Harcourt,” the NSCDC said.
