Residents of Hammanskraal must take note of a scheduled shutdown of water supply for six hours on Thursday, April 10.
The Tshwane metro said it was notified by Magalies Water about the planned shutdown of the Babelegi Reservoir distribution areas of Hammanskraal.
“The scheduled shutdown is to allow conditional assessment of a 400mm nominal diameter strainer valve inside the Babelegi Pump Station to determine the need for refurbishment or complete replacement.”
The metro said this essential operation is carried out to ensure optimum operation of the pump station.
“The operation is expected to last for six hours from 07:00 to 13:00.”
The reservoir inlet and outlet will be closed before the shutdown.
The following areas will be affected:
– Babelegi Industrial Area
– Ramotse
– Mandela Village
– Marokolong
– Refilwe and Portion 9
“We profusely apologise for the inconvenience that may be encountered as a result of the shutdown,” said the metro.
Residents are urged to use water sparingly during this time by doing the following :
– Do not water gardens.
– Do not wash cars.
– Do not clean driveways or pavements using hosepipes.
– Flush toilets only when necessary.
– Close a running tap while brushing your teeth.
