Aiyedatiwa has performed better than predecessors, says party chieftain
Leaders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ward 3, Okeagbe, Akoko North West Local Council of Ondo State have denied the claim making the rounds that they were working against the ruling party in the state.
According to the leaders, they were being threatened to abolish the Independence Consultative Council (ICC) and renounce their membership of the association.
The APC leaders said that the ICC was formed as an independent campaign group across all the 18 local councils of the state to ensure the victory of Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa in last year’s governorship election.
Coordinator of the ICC in the Ward, Olumide Aliu, who spoke during a media briefing in Akure, the state capital, described as unimaginable that a section of APC members in Akoko North West began stigmatising party members and labelled them opposition leaders.
Olumide said that several meetings of the ICC were disrupted and the leaders maligned and assaulted.
The group, therefore, called on the governor to protect the ICC members in the Ward.
MEANWHILE, a chieftain of the ruling APC in the state, Adeyeri Stephen, has said that the achievements recorded so far by Aiyedatiwa have surpassed those of his predecessors in the history of the state.
Adeyeri, who spoke with newsmen yesterday, said the massive infrastructural projects embarked upon by Aiyedatiwa’s administration in the last one year and other transformational programmes had significantly ranked Ondo as one the fastest developing states in the country.
He said that the giant strides of Aiyedatiwa earned him victory in the last governorship election in the state, expressing optimism that the Aiyedatiwa-led administration will turn around the fortune of the state.
