Angel Iris Murphy Turns 18 — Mel B and Eddie Murphy’s Child Marks a New Era with Authenticity and Love
It feels like just yesterday the world was buzzing over Spice Girls icon Mel B having a baby with comedy legend Eddie Murphy — and now that baby, Angel Iris Murphy, is officially 18 years old and stepping confidently into adulthood.
Angel celebrated the milestone birthday on April 3, 2025, and proud mom Mel B (aka Scary Spice) took to Instagram to share an emotional tribute that gave all the proud mama energy we’d expect — and then some.
“HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO MY ANGEL !!!” Mel wrote, along with a carousel of throwback and current photos. “I cannot believe you’re 18. You are so special and so bright and so talented!! I couldn’t be prouder of watching you grow and become the person you are — but you’ll forever be my babyyyy.”

She closed the post with a heartfelt wish: “I hope you keep chasing your dreams and be kind to everyone around you like you always have been, my Angel. Love you always.”
Angel’s journey to 18 has been full of love, growth, and now, self-expression. Though born with the name Angel Iris, he now goes by he/him pronouns, which he confirmed himself under the Instagram post after a fan referred to him using “she.”
When another commenter gently corrected with “*him / *he,” a third asked how they knew — and Angel himself chimed in: “They are on my profile!”
It’s a simple, empowering statement — one that shows confidence, clarity, and a strong sense of identity as he steps into adulthood under the gaze of the public.
Mel B has always been fiercely protective and proud of her children, especially Angel, who she’s raised largely on her own. In a past interview with OK! Magazine, Mel shared that Angel arrived nine days early, and in true Spice Girl fashion, she handled it herself: “I was by myself but I didn’t want to be dramatic and call an ambulance. So I just got into the car and drove to the hospital.”
