The Lagos State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC), yesterday, announced that the nomination fees for the chairmanship form in the July 12, 2025, local council election in the state will cost N5 million with an administrative fee of N500,000.00.
According to the party, for female candidates seeking the chairmanship role, the nomination fee is set at ₦N2.5 million, while the administrative fee remains at N500,000.
Also, to encourage youth participation, the party introduced a 50 per cent discount on the nomination fee for aspirants under 40 years old but who need to pay the full administrative fee of N500,000. Additionally, the party has waived the nomination fee for aspirants with disabilities, who will only be required to pay a reduced administrative charge of N250,000.
Besides, for councillorship aspirants, male candidates will need to pay ₦N1 million for the nomination form and N100,000 for the administrative fee. Female candidates will pay ₦N250,000 for the nomination form and N100,000 for the administrative fee, while youths aspiring for councillorship positions will receive a 50 per cent discount on the nomination fee, but the administrative fee will remain the same. Persons living with disabilities (PLWDs) will be able to collect nomination forms for free, though they will need to pay a N50,000 administrative fee.
All these were disclosed in a statement signed by the state chairman of the party, Cornelius Ojelabi and the Secretary, Dr Adeola Jokomba.
The party also disclosed that there would be no separate fee for the vice chairmanship position, and all fees should be paid via bank draft in favour of the APC, Lagos State chapter, adding that chairmanship candidates must submit a nomination form with endorsement by five registered party members who are also registered voters in their wards and local councils. For councillorship aspirants, 20 endorsements from registered voters within their wards are required.
The guidelines also emphasised eligibility criteria, including the requirement that aspirants must have at least a school certificate or its equivalent, with higher qualifications being an added advantage. The minimum age for council and Local Council Development Areas (LCDAs) chairmanship aspirants is set at 30 years, while councillorship aspirants must be at least 25 years old.
