Virginia Giuffre, a survivor of Jeffrey Epstein’s sex-trafficking ring who sued Prince Andrew, has died. She was 41.
Giuffre reportedly passed away at her farm in Western Australia.
A family statement alleges that she died by suicide. In March, Giuffre shared on Instagram that she was battling severe health complications, including impending renal failure, following a major car accident involving a school bus traveling at nearly 70 miles per hour.
“Virginia was a fierce warrior in the fight against sexual abuse and sex trafficking,” her family’s statement reads. “She was the light that lifted so many survivors.”
Giuffre once claimed she was “passed around like a platter of fruit” to powerful men, including Britain’s Prince Andrew. Prince Andrew settled with Giuffre, who accused him of sexual abuse, in 2022. The settlement included an undisclosed financial payment, believed to be eight figures, and a donation to Giuffre’s charity to support victims’ rights.
As part of the deal, Andrew did not admit liability or apologize.
Epstein was arrested in 2019 on federal charges of sex trafficking and conspiracy, but he passed away by suicide. He was found dead in his New York jail cell, having hung himself with bed sheets.
In 2009, she filed a lawsuit against Epstein and his longtime associate, Ghislaine Maxwell, accusing them of recruiting her into Epstein’s trafficking ring under false pretenses.
