Afrobeats sensation Iyanya has responded to recent speculation suggesting he is taking sides in the ongoing tension between Nigerian music heavyweights Wizkid and Davido.
The discussion resurfaced after a user on X (formerly Twitter), @Akubasteeny, questioned Iyanya’s loyalty. The user pointed out the artist’s past collaboration with Wizkid on the popular track Sexy Mama, expressing surprise at Iyanya’s recent open endorsement of Davido’s music. “I thought Wiz was your friend. I’m just wondering why you switched sides and became Davido’s boy,” the post read.
Iyanya promptly addressed the comment, dismissing the notion that he had chosen sides. He clarified that he holds no ill will toward any fellow artist and continues to support all Nigerian musicians equally. He emphasized that fan-driven rivalries do not influence his personal or professional relationships within the industry.
“I don’t have an issue with any artiste. I played Wizkid’s Made in Lagos and Morayo, the same way I play every other artiste’s songs. Most artistes won’t say this, but we are the first to listen to other artistes’ projects when they drop. It’s part of our work to stay updated on the sound and the game” he wrote.
Iyanya reiterated his commitment to supporting other artists, mentioning his enjoyment of new music from Ubi Franklin and his friendship with Burna Boy.
“I dey play all and I tell you, me no get enemy o. So make una stop this friend or no friend. Na una fans dey try dey push agenda wey no dey,” he added.

Iyanya’s explanation comes during rising tensions between Wizkid and Davido, whose ongoing feud frequently spills onto social media, igniting fierce online arguments among their fans.
